# Navigating the Platform

Here's a quick orientation to what's where on Knovel.

***

## Main Navigation

**Explore** The Explore feed is where you discover new books and authors. It surfaces trending titles, new releases, and works in genres you've engaged with before. Trending is calculated from real reader engagement — finishes, likes, and follows — over a rolling 30-day window.

**Search** Search by title, author name, or genre. Search results can be filtered by genre, publication status, and license type.

**Reading Lists** Your personal reading list. Books you've bookmarked, are currently reading, or have marked as finished all live here. Your reading list is private by default.

**Notifications** Activity on your books, follows, reviews, and derivative works all appear here.

**Dashboard** (authors) Your author dashboard shows your published books, draft works, earnings, and IP asset status. It's where you manage everything you've created.

***

## Your Profile Page

Your public profile page shows:

* Your display name and bio
* All published books
* Follower and following counts
* Derivative works you've created (if public)

Readers can follow you from your profile page, which means your new releases will appear in their feed.

## The EPUB Reader

Knovel has a built-in EPUB reader for reading books on the platform. When you open a book:

* Use the **chapter navigation** sidebar to jump between chapters
* Adjust **font size and theme** (light, dark, sepia) from the reader settings panel
* Your reading **progress is saved automatically** — pick up where you left off on any device

## Mobile

Knovel is accessible on mobile browsers. A dedicated mobile app is on the roadmap. For now, the web experience is optimized for mobile and works well on current iOS and Android browsers.
